Some parents may be able to apply for a $1200 RESP grant for their child. The deadline for application is mid-August. Please click here to go to the provincial government page for more information.
CPF Update from Sandra Arthur
Well folks, the end of the school year is fast approaching and before we all disappear for the summer break we'd like you to:-
1. Join us on Monday, June 25th 3.00 - 5.00 pm @ Brentwood Bay Village Empourium
Did you know it will be St Jean-Baptiste Day, "Fete Nationale QUEBEC" and it gives us a reason to gather and celebrate a "Fabulous year of French learning In Saanich".
Please make plans to drop by to meet the team from Canadian Parents for French - Saanich. Eat, drink, browse and enjoy meeting volunteers, parents, teachers and students from our community.
2. Reflect on all the cool things CPF - Saanich funded/supported/arranged! Without our wonderful volunteers membership and fundraising contributions, none of this could have happened. If you have students in French Immersion, PLEASE consider how you can help: Become a member: Volunteer : make a donation!

+ Annual K:12 Gift Exchange Celebration - including photo souvenir
+ French Improv Workshop – private CPF events for Grade 8, 9 and 10
+ French Debate workshops for Grade 9 (5 weeks)
+ French magazine subscriptions
+ French Café experience (for Middle School students)
+ Winter Carnival Celebrations
+ French karate lessons!
+ French “Buddy” Reading activities: Bonjour:bonne Nuit.
+ x 4 weeks supporting : Lecture en Cadeau.
+ K Orientation evenings and parent welcome.
+ $250 “gift” to each FI Saanich school to support French learning.
+ Welcome back/Welcome Grade 5: CPF information desks
+ Semi-finals Concours d’art oratoire (snacks/prizes/medals/travel support for winners)
+ French live theatre for Grade 9-12.
+ French Film Fest - Sidney (for K-Grade 8)
+ French DVD’s supplied to Saanich Elementary Schools.
+ Supplied private French books and magazines to all of our Saanich schools.
To continue this great work we need volunteers and members. Please join CPF at $25 p.a. Your funds will be used to support similar activities as listed above. We are also urgently seeking volunteers to support different roles - let us know if you can help.
Remember to choose Saanich as your Chapter.
3. Be better informed and make a difference - Volunteer?
We are urgently seeking an number of new volunteers to join our fabulous volunteer team. School reps, treasurers, pc guru, ad hoc jobs etc.
Our CPF school representatives are also busy planning new exciting events for 2018 such as the “Verbathon”, Career talks in French, Bonjour/bonne nuit, Indoor Football (in French), French Film/theatre evenings and much more.
