French Immersion Kindergarten Lottery Process Information for Applicants

Due to the popularity of the French Immersion program and limited space, a lottery will be used to determine placement for new Kindergarten registrations.

Registration requests received at your FI catchment school during Kindergarten Registration Week will be included in the lottery.

Register at your catchment FI Deep Cove or Keating School.

Placement priority noted at top of registration form.

Please wear a mask.

                January 12     7:30am-9:30am

                January 13     12:30pm-2:30pm

                January 14      3:30pm-5:30pm

Only applications where all original supporting documentation has been received by the deadline of 3 pm on Friday, Jan 15 will be included in the lottery. Applications received after Jan 15 will not be included in the lottery process but will be added to a waitlist according to Saanich Schools enrolling priorities.

The lottery will follow Saanich Schools enrolling priorities:

1. re‐enrolling students (not applicable to new Kindergarten students)

2. siblings of re‐enrolling students

3. catchment area children

4. non‐catchment children

5. out of district children

Participants in the lottery will include:

∙ Principals of both schools

∙ Admin Assistants of both schools

∙ PAC representative from each school

∙ District representative

After the lottery has concluded,  and beginning with Enrolling priority 2 (siblings of re‐enrolling students) parents who will be offered a space will be contacted via email and will have 24 hours to accept the offer.  If a response is not received by the time indicated in the email, the offer will be rescinded and the space will be offered to the next name in the lottery.  This process may take a few days to complete so please check your email frequently, including your junk mail folder.  Updates will be posted on the district website at www.saanichschools.ca

Students not offered a French Immersion space will have an opportunity to:

1. Remain on a wait list for one or both FI schools and register at your catchment English school, or 2. Withdraw from the FI wait list and register at your catchment English school.
