Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):

Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s):

Families can expect Student Learning Summaries (Report Cards) on or before Friday of this week.  These will arrive in one of two formats.  Some Families will receive Summary Reports through Fresh Grade, and will have been made aware of the reporting process through the classroom teachers.   For remaining classes, your child(ren) will receive a paper copy report.

For students receiving a paper report, you may notice that it looks slightly different than in the past. Teachers in Saanich will be using MyEducation to create report cards. MyEducation BC is the repository of information and resources to support students in the Province of British Columbia. The rationale is that My Education report cards are:

● consistent with what students’ receive in other districts

● consistent with the report cards students receive in middle and secondary school

● allow us to track how students are progressing over time

In Saanich, we will continue to use the Proficiency Scale to assess student progress. The scale uses the descriptors Emerging, Developing, Proficient and Extending (see Elementary Reporting update attached).  We hope that providing you with timely, flexible information about student progress this year will help ensure that you are well informed about your child’s learning.

Please reach out if you have any questions!
