This week we continue to focus on the virtue of Compassion.

Did you know - 

Compassion as an emotion has physical side effects.

When you feel compassion for someone or something your heart rate goes down. This is the opposite of what happens when you are in a threatening situation and your heart rate kicks up and you feel the fight or flight response.   So with compassion, the feeling you get is to approach and sooth.  That's why when a baby cries, a mother comforts it rather than panics and looks around wondering what made it cry.Compassion
