It’s that time of the year again!!! And despite the current strike situation we are still having to press on with our annual Christmas fair preparations.  The Fair is fast approaching…last year we raised over $25,000! All of the money raised goes directly back into our children’s classrooms and learning experience via the Special Funding Request system, funding field trips, bussing to school events, and all the extras that really enrich our children’s experiences at school. This means that we don’t constantly get requests for funds for trips and extras sent home with our children, and why we don’t have to sell chocolates/coupon books/magazine subscriptions/do bottle drives throughout the year!

But, of course, the Fair doesn’t run itself-- we need your help! The success of the Fair depends upon the concerted efforts of parents, guardians, older children (ex-students), staff, and community members who volunteer to participate in many ways! Even if you are unable to assist us on the night of the Fair, there are many things to do in preparation for the night!

How Do I Help?

  • Donate Book/Puzzle Room Items: we need your donations of stuffies, books, DVDs, games, puzzles, etc for the Book/Puzzle room. Sorry, no household items or toys this year.  We will be posting a couple drop-off spots shortly for you!

  • Donate to the Silent auction (more info to follow)- this is a huge $$ raiser!  Please contact us at deepcovefair@gmail.com to arrange for pick-up/drop off.

  • Bake items for the cake walk and bake sale (to be delivered the day of the Fair)

  • Volunteer your time!  Time for a shift at one of the Fair venues, to help coordinate a venue, to collect items for the silent auction, to wash stuffies, put up lights, set up and clean up, etc...   You can sign up usin Sign Up Genius - see the live link on the PAC website (connect from drop down on school site)  or at   https://bit.ly/2K126gO

  • Sell Raffle Tickets! Another big $$ maker for us! Raffle tickets will be sent home with each student the week of November 18. There is no expectation that the children sell all of their tickets, however, ALL SOLD AND UNSOLD tickets MUST be returned to school by Thursday, December 5th. Please return tickets and cash and or cheque (payable to Deep Cove PAC) in a sealed envelope. The class that sells the most tickets will win a pizza party!  If School is not in session by Nov. 22 we will arrange pick-up times for tickets - keep an eye on your emails and the PAC Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/deepcoveelementaryPAC/?ref=br_rs

Volunteer sign-up for the venues will be done completely online this year via Signup Genius. The invites to volunteer are being sent out to everyone via e-mail through your class reps, and have been posted to the PAC Website (https://deepcove.sd63.bc.ca/) and Facebook page  (@deepcoveelementaryPAC). Please go online to have a look at the different positions we need filled. Sign up for your preferred shift ASAP! https://bit.ly/2K126gO

Do I have to volunteer? No, of course not! But we really hope you do! Every year parents who have been very involved at Deep Cove School move on because their youngest child has graduated. It is your turn to step in and replace them. We would love to welcome you on our team!

Please sort, bake, sell, donate and volunteer to support your children’s school!

Thank you to the venue coordinators, volunteers, and donors who have already stepped up!
