Dear parents and guardians,
As you may be aware, we are incredibly lucky to have one primary fundraising event - our annual Christmas Fair – which raises approximately $25,000 for our PAC each year. Parents, guardians and faculty can submit requests to allocate this funding to areas they consider important. This happens through the Special Funding Request (SFR) process. At the Oct 22 General Meeting, parents and guardians discussed the submissions and developed a draft budget (below). At the Nov 5th General Meeting, we will balance the budget and it will be voted on for approval. We encourage you to attend this important meeting where we will finalize how to spend the funds in support of our children’s Deep Cove Elementary experience.
Please review the draft budget. It will give you a great idea of the amazing benefits that we are able to provide our children through the efforts of the Christmas Fair. Just to name a few….field trips, science resources, extra-curricular activities, and art supplies are some of the things we are able to fund. Not only do our kids benefit, but parents are not asked to fund these initiatives out of their own pockets.
It is incredibly important that we get enough volunteers for the Christmas Fair. We hope that when you see the benefit it provides directly to your children, you will offer up a bit of your time in support. There are a number of Christmas Fair volunteer opportunities available. They range in the level of commitment to ensure they are manageable with your schedule.
You are also welcome to co-volunteer for a position with a friend!
